Techniques are graded and applied within comfortable ranges. Mild soreness for 24 hours after treatment is normal and generally a sign of tissue response. Your clinician will continually check in with you during the session — always communicate your discomfort levels openly.

Manual therapy is clinically directed, targeting specific joints and structures with measurable therapeutic goals. It is performed by registered physiotherapists using validated outcome measures to track progress objectively. A regular massage focuses primarily on general relaxation and soft tissue relief without clinical assessment or goal-directed rehabilitation.

Many manual therapy techniques are applicable even with these conditions. Your clinician will perform a full safety screen and select appropriate, low-grade techniques that are safe and effective. High-velocity manipulation techniques require specific criteria to be met and are not applied routinely.

Many patients notice improved range of motion and reduced pain within 1–3 sessions, though this depends on chronicity and the complexity of the condition. Your clinician will set realistic expectations based on your clinical findings at the initial assessment.

We use high-velocity low-amplitude (HVLA) manipulation when clinically indicated and only after full informed consent. It is not applied routinely but can offer rapid results for suitable candidates with specific joint restrictions.
