Common Sports Injuries We Manage

Our clinicians have extensive experience across a wide spectrum of acute and chronic sports-related conditions.

Muscle Strains & Tears

Hamstring, quadriceps, calf, and groin strains — graded and managed with precision for optimal recovery timelines.

Ligament Sprains

Ankle, knee (ACL/MCL/LCL), and wrist sprains, from acute management through to full functional restoration.

Tendinopathies

Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff, and lateral elbow tendinopathies — evidence-based loading programmes to drive tendon remodelling.

Stress Fractures

Identification, activity modification, and progressive bone-loading strategies for metatarsal, tibial, and femoral stress reactions.

Overuse & Repetitive Strain

IT band syndrome, patellofemoral pain, shin splints, and swimmer's shoulder — load management and movement retraining.

Performance Optimisation

Biomechanical screening, movement quality assessment, and individualised strength & conditioning guidance for healthy athletes.

A Systematic Path Back to Sport

Recovery is not linear — it is a structured progression through defined stages, each with clear criteria that must be met before advancing. Our clinicians guide you through every step.

1

Comprehensive Assessment

Full movement screen, strength testing, sport-specific load analysis, and injury history review to build an accurate clinical picture.

2

Diagnosis & Goal Setting

A clear working diagnosis and a realistic, timeline-driven return-to-sport plan co-developed with you and your coaching team if applicable.

3

Targeted Rehabilitation

Manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and neuromuscular re-education focused on the tissue at hand and the demands of your sport.

4

Return-to-Sport Criteria Testing

Objective strength, power, and agility benchmarks measured against the uninjured limb and sport-normative data before full clearance.

5

Injury Prevention & Monitoring

Load management principles, movement screening, and targeted prehabilitation to minimise re-injury risk long term.

Your Questions, Answered

Early intervention generally leads to better outcomes. For acute injuries, we recommend seeking assessment within 24–72 hours once any urgent medical concerns (such as fractures requiring imaging) have been ruled out. Early treatment can reduce swelling, protect tissue, and begin rehabilitation sooner.

In most cases, yes — with appropriate modifications. Complete rest is rarely the optimal strategy. Our clinicians will identify which activities are safe and beneficial at each stage, helping you maintain fitness while the injured area heals.

This varies by injury type, severity, and individual healing rate. Mild muscle strains may resolve in 4–6 sessions over a few weeks, while complex ligament reconstructions or tendinopathies may require 12–20 sessions over several months. Your clinician will provide a realistic estimate at your first appointment.

No referral is required to see our physiotherapists directly. However, for certain insurance claims, a doctor's referral may be needed. We are happy to liaise with your GP or sports physician if coordinated care is appropriate.

Wear or bring comfortable clothing that allows access to the injured area. Bring any relevant imaging reports (X-rays, MRI), a list of current medications, and your insurance card if applicable. Arrive 10 minutes early to complete your intake paperwork.
